Colombia's banking system issued loans totalling 451bn pesos (US$161m) to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) this year to May, up 49% from the 302bn pesos issued during the same five-month period last year.
Colombia's largest bank, Bancolombia (www.bancolombia.com), paid out in 2002 46.4bn pesos (US$15.6m) through its B2B portal Credipagos Virtual, said electronic banking manager Andres Vasquez.
Colombian bank Bancolombia (NYSE: CIB) loaned more than 15.3bn pesos (US$5.4mn) to some 5,000 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in September-November this year, as part of an agreement with the central government.
