The receivables finance industry continues to demonstrate growing resilience to the global economic slowdown as it is keeping up with much higher interest rates, enhanced risk, the costly endeavours of transitioning to a net zero economy and complex technological advances.

This year the RFIx Awards will honour industry leaders who were able to deliver strong financial performance while turning challenges into opportunities in an ever-evolving business environment. Join the 2024 RFIx Awards for an evening of celebration – 22 May 2024, Hilton London Canary Wharf.

The Awards are international in scale and entries are open to all companies involved in the receivables and payables finance ecosystem including banks, non-banks, fintechs, trade credit insurance providers,  consultancies and legal advisors.

All winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner on 22 May 2024 in London – an annual event not to be missed!

Supply Chain Finance Provider of the Year

This award recognises a supply chain finance or confirming provider of domestic and/or cross border financing that is driving change in the industry with market initiatives, product offerings and supplier on-boarding.
Supply chain finance, for the purpose of this award, is defined as approved payables supplier finance including reverse factoring and confir+ ming.

Judges will consider:

  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Clear endorsement from suppliers and buyers
  • Evidence of deal volumes with a few examples provided, detailing size and complexity
  • Examples of how the supply chain finance programme stands out from its competitors in terms of product design, services supplied and technology


Invoice Finance Provider of the Year – Non-bank

This award recognises an independent invoice finance provider (including factoring, selective invoice finance and invoice discounting) that has over the past 12 months shown exemplary customer service, high customer retention, innovative product design and delivery.

Judges will consider:

  • How the company has developed their invoice finance product(s) in the past 12 months
  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Number of clients and number of new clients in the past 12 months, including volume of deals
  • Examples of why the company stands out from its competitors in terms of innovative product offerings, use of technology, client experience and growth
  • Evidence of successful deal execution with a few examples provided, detailing size, complexity, and client testimonials


Invoice Finance Provider of the Year – Bank

This award recognises a bank that has over the past 12 months shown exemplary customer service, high customer retention, innovative product design and delivery.

Judges will consider:

  • How the company has developed their invoice finance product(s) in the past 12 months
  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Number of clients and number of new clients in the past 12 months, including volume of deals
  • Examples of why the company stands out from its competitors in terms of innovative product offerings, use of technology, client experience and growth
  • Evidence of successful deal execution with a few examples provided, detailing size, complexity, and client testimonials


Domestic Factoring Provider of the Year

This award recognises a domestic factoring provider that is driving change in the industry with market initiatives, product offerings and client investment.

Judges will consider:

  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Evidence of deal volumes with a few examples provided, detailing size and complexity
  • Examples of how the factoring product stands out from its competitors in terms of product design, services supplied, and technology utilised
  • Customer satisfaction – client testimonials to be provided


International (import/export) Factoring Provider of the Year

This award recognises an international factoring provider that is driving change internationally in the industry with market initiatives, product offerings and client investment.

Judges will consider:

  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Evidence of deal volumes with a few examples provided, detailing size and complexity
  • Examples of how the product stands out from its competitors in terms of product design, services supplied, and technology utilised
  • Customer satisfaction – client testimonials to be provided


Alternative Receivables Finance Platform of the Year

This award recognises an alternative receivables finance platform that has over the past 12 months shown exemplary customer service, high customer retention, innovative product design and delivery.

An alternative receivables finance platform for the purpose of this award is defined as a platform that delivers working capital receivables or payables finance solutions to SMEs.

Judges will consider:

  • How the company has developed their invoice finance product(s) in the past 12 months
  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Number of clients and number of new clients in the past 12 months, including volume of deals
  • Examples of why the company stands out from its competitors in terms of innovative product offerings, use of technology, client experience and growth
  • Evidence of successful deal execution with a few examples provided, detailing size, complexity, and client testimonials


Receivables Finance Technology Solution Provider of the Year (vendor)

This award recognises a technology solution provider whose products are tailored for factoring and/or invoice financing, enabling financiers greater efficiency, security and customer experience.

Judges will consider:

  • How the product is tailored for factoring and specific issues that are solved through implementation
  • Number of clients and number of new clients in the past 12 months
  • Examples of how the solution stands out from its competitors in terms of offering greater efficiency, security, and customer experience
  • Evidence of successful implementation with a few examples provided, detailing size, complexity, and client testimonials


Most Innovative Fintech of the Year

This award recognises companies making receivables/payables finance industry-changing innovation through their products. We are looking for a vendor’s technology platform which is new or has been majorly renewed or improved.

Judges will consider:

  • Market interest achieved in the past 12 months
  • Evidence of innovative approach to the development of the platform
  • Evidence of market deployment (e.g. number of users/licences etc.)
  • Clear endorsement from the clients


ESG Invoice Financier of the Year

This award recognises an organisation that in the past 12 months has made a significant contribution to ESG-linked invoice finance sector.

For this category, sustainability and ESG-linked finance is a financial practice designed to incentivise the borrower’s achievement of environmental, social, or governance targets through pricing incentives.

Judges will consider:

  • Demonstrate growth of the share of sustainability-linked finance in the overall receivables finance portfolio
  • Evidence of sustainability-linked finance deals growth with a few examples, detailing the size and complexity
  • Examples of the support initiatives of the responsible ESG projects
  • Examples of withdrawal from supporting non-sustainable business activities if any, for example thermal coal sector etc.


Development Bank of the Year

This award recognises a development bank who has over the past 12 months increased uptake and knowledge of the receivables/payables finance industry in developing countries:

Judges will consider:

  • How the bank has worked to increase the use and knowledge of receivables/payables finance in developing regions in the past 12 months
  • Demonstrable growth of market share, turnover and global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Examples of programmes and initiatives established with local banks and governments
  • Examples of why the bank stands out from others in terms of innovative programmes, use of technology, client experience and positive growth
  • Examples of educational projects held in the past 12 months to increase knowledge of receivables finance in emerging markets

 

Trade Credit Insurance Broker of the Year

This award recognises a trade credit insurance broker who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the last 12 months in the receivables and payables finance sector including exemplary customer service, high customer retention, new clients’ portfolio growth, innovative product design and delivery.

Judges will consider:

  • How the product is tailored for the industry and specific issues that are solved through implementation
  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Number of clients and number of new clients in the past 12 months, including volume of deals
  • Examples of why the company stands out from its competitors in terms of innovative product
  • Offerings, use of technology, client experience and growth
  • Evidence of successful/innovative deal execution with a few examples provided, detailing size, complexity, and client testimonials


Trade Credit Insurer of the Year

This award recognises a trade credit insurance provider who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the last 12 months in the receivables and payables finance sector including exemplary customer service, high customer retention, new clients’ portfolio growth, innovative product design and delivery.

Judges will consider:

  • How the product is tailored for the industry and specific issues that are solved through implementation
  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Number of clients and number of new clients in the past 12 months, including volume of deals
  • Examples of why the company stands out from its competitors in terms of innovative product Offerings, use of technology, client experience and growth

Global Receivables Finance Provider of the Year

This award recognises an outstanding financial institution that, over the past 12 months, has grown its receivables finance business and proven itself as a key international player within the industry.

Judges will consider:

  • Demonstrable growth in market share and/or global coverage in the past 12 months
  • Clear endorsement from clients
  • Evidence of deal volumes with a few examples provided, detailing size and complexity
  • Evidence of innovative approach to the development of the product
  • Examples of how the institution stands out from its competitors in terms of innovation, thought leadership, client experience and positive growth


Personal Awards

The following awards are presented to individuals and as such these will be awarded by the judging panel without prior nominations being made public.

Companies are welcome to nominate individuals within their organisations.

 

  • Industry Ambassador of the Year

This award will be given to an individual who is considered to have done more than any other to promote, develop and enhance the reputation, economic role, and social status of the industry.
 

  • Lifetime Achievement

This prestigious award goes to an individual who has made a significant contribution to build and shape the global receivables finance industry during their career. Their contribution will have driven new developments across the industry. They will have successfully steered companies and mentored colleagues through challenges and taken strategic leadership within their organisation and the factoring community as a whole. They will be a top influencer amongst their peers, and with the wider business.

Hugh Craen (lead judge)
Business Consultant

Hugh is currently a business consultant and carries out due diligence work for factoring companies as well as placing business with receivable finance companies. In addition, he acts as an advisor to companies in a number of different sectors. He has 30 years’ experience in the Receivables Finance sector having founded two factoring companies and been responsible for operations which included underwriting and recoveries.

Sarah Green
Law Commissioner for Commercial and Common Law

Professor Green was appointed as Law Commissioner for Commercial and Common Law on 1 January 2020. She was previously Professor of Private Law at the University of Bristol. Prior to that, she was Professor of the Law of Obligations at the University of Oxford. Before embarking on her academic career, she was a software consultant at Accenture. Professor Green has written books and articles on a variety of issues including virtual currencies, blockchain issues surrounding intermediated securities, smart contracts, sale of goods law as applicable to digitised assets, negligence and wage theft.

Qamar Saleem
SME Finance Center Lead, IFC

Qamar leads the world’s most prominent SME finance centre for knowledge exchange, solution building, innovation, best practice transfer and public-private dialogue. Prior to this role, Qamar headed Financial Institutions Group Advisory Services for Asia and Pacific, driving a large team across Asia and Pacific, aimed at providing integrated investment and advisory client solutions across mainly MSME, gender, climate, digital, housing, trade, and SCF. Qamar has been with IFC since 2012 and served in previously as Global Technical Lead for SME and SCF, as well as Regional SME Banking Lead for EMENA. He has more than 30 years of global financial services experience having worked across more than 80 countries, advised more than 300 financial institutions internationally in scaling SME finance. He has managed large business lines while leading multi-cultural and cross-functional teams. He is a recognised thought leader, featured speaker, and an industry mentor in SME and SCF. Prior to joining the IFC, Qamar was associated with international organisations like HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank as well as large regional banks, whilst serving in several emerging markets where he also led SME banking and commercial banking divisions. Qamar holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and carries several certifications in the areas of strategy, climate finance, digital banking, business transformation, social impact, MSME banking, team leadership, SCF, credit, risk, trade, sales effectiveness, transaction banking and project implementation.

Ana Kavtaradze
Lead Strategy Consultant

Ana is a lead strategy consultant to Banks and Multilateral FIs including IFC, ADB and EBRD. Her global engagements span across Caucasus, CEE and Central Asia, in the domain of Global Banking, TSCF, Business transformation and Digitalization. In her 17+ years professional career, Ana held executive positions bridging multi-cultural stakeholders, with business development focus globally in the domain of Global Banking. She was previously EXCOM member at ICC BC and headed Trade & Structured Finance at Bank of Georgia. Ana currently is a Management Board Consultant - Strategic Business Development at Basisbank, Global MD at Trade Force Global. Ana holds Masters in Banking & Finance from Tbilisi State University.

Amit Balooni
Banker and Consultant

Amit is a career Banker and Consultant and worked for some of leading Banks in India, South Asia and Central Asia. He advises FinTechs in the area of Go-To-Market strategies and is on board of multiple startups. He is a CEO and Founder of Frank KnowTech, a Fintech in the domain of Banking Product Design, Development and Distribution. You can hear his views on Banking, Finance and related technologies through his youtube podcast on FrankBanker channel. He is based in Bangalore.
