There were 35 venture capital transactions in Hungary during the first 11 months of the year, up from 25 during the whole of 2003. Compared to data for the whole of 2003, however, the amount of invested capital fell 18% to Ђ96 m in Jan-Nov, announced Julian Tzvetkov, president of Hungarian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MKME).
Large deals from Ђ5 to Ђ15 m upwards dominated the market, representing 79 per cent of invested capital January-November. In terms of the number of transactions, however, the picture is reversed with smaller deals of Ђ1-2.5 m representing 80 per cent of the market. There were no deals recorded in the Ђ2.5-5 m category during the period in question.
