According to Olea, receivables generated by trade transactions were tokenised and recorded on Intain’s Layer 1 network, which runs on Avalanche infrastructure, creating an on-chain record of ownership and asset status. The sequencing is the most relevant part for receivables financiers. Intain reconciled information across invoices, purchase orders, credit notes and shipment documents before the assets were verified and registered on-chain. The transaction was designed to fit within existing trade-finance workflows and institutional credit and compliance requirements rather than replacing those processes with blockchain alone. No transaction amount, advance rate, pricing, tenor or debtor information was disclosed. Olea’s announcement also does not set out the precise legal transfer mechanics or the extent to which the token itself represents ownership of the underlying receivable under applicable law. That leaves the verification process, rather than tokenisation alone, as the more significant control feature. Recording an asset on an immutable ledger can make subsequent ownership and status easier to trace, but it cannot independently establish that the source invoice or shipment is genuine. In this structure, document reconciliation occurs before the blockchain record is created. The transaction is not POSCO International’s first test of the concept. In July, the company announced a separate proof-of-concept with LG CNS covering blockchain and AI-based trade-finance technology, including tokenisation of trade receivables. The latest development therefore extends that experimentation into a separate US transaction with Olea and Intain rather than marking POSCO’s first move into tokenised receivables.POSCO, Olea and Intain said they intend to explore further applications in tokenised trade finance, digital treasury and stablecoin-enabled cross-border settlement. The transaction tests whether verification and ownership records can be combined more tightly without removing the credit, legal and operational controls institutional financiers still require. #Avalanche#blockchain#digital trade#Intain#invoice verification#Olea#POSCO International#POSCO International America#receivables finance#tokenisation#trade finance#trade receivables
