Fabio Balboni

Fabio is Senior European Economist at HSBC. He’s an expert of monetary and fiscal policy, trade, and politics, he’s regularly cited in international press and newswires, has won several forecasting awards and consistently ranked among the top economists in investors surveys. He has recently been listed by Focus Economics among the most influential eurozone economists. Before joining HSBC in 2014, Fabio worked at HM Treasury, where he held a number of roles including Senior Economist responsible for Greece and Cyprus during the eurozone crisis, and head of the unit responsible for UK fiscal forecast. Fabio holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Law and Economics from the University of Bologna. He also worked at the European Commission and United Nations Development Programme.
