According to this year's Global Competitiveness Report, prepared by Swiss organisation World Economic Forum (WEF), Finland is once again the most competitive nation in the world.
Last year, the United States grabbed the number one spot from Finland, but a new system of assessing the data lifted Finland to the top. The new report calls Finland one of the most significant success stories of the decade.
According to the WEF report, Finland ranks number one when measured both in terms of the growth competitiveness of the economy and the competitiveness of corporations.
Finland's success is based on a healthy state budget and technological development. Finland was also helped by a change in the criteria of the survey, whereby a high portion of state spending in GDP does not necessarily weaken a country's position.
