Kasikornbank has joined with the Export Promotion Department to offer financial support to entrepreneurs under the One Tambon, One Product (Otop) programme.
Tongchai Charoensit, the bank's first senior vice-president, said it would offer loans of 100,000 to 300,000 baht (US$2,575 to US$7,725) to Otop entrepreneurs receiving three or more stars from the Export Promotion Department.
The bank, which will set aside 500 million baht (US$12.9m) for the programme, will charge an interest rate of 1.5 percentage points over prime lending rates.
The Otop programme is a state initiative encouraging rural communities and small entrepreneurs to improve their marketing and production techniques to increase sales in the domestic and international markets.
