Morgan, the deposit token allows eligible institutional clients to transfer tokenised US dollar bank deposits using blockchain infrastructure.Unlike conventional privately issued stablecoins, JPM Coin represents a tokenised deposit issued by a bank. Its availability is restricted to eligible institutional customers rather than the wider public cryptocurrency market. The expansion gives participating institutions a second public blockchain on which they can transfer deposits and potentially coordinate settlement with other financial assets.Ethereum already supports a substantial market in tokenised securities, investment products and digital-asset transactions. JPMorgan said the network’s liquidity and existing financial infrastructure were important reasons for extending JPM Coin beyond Base. The development also follows the introduction of tokenised money-market investment products by J.P. Morgan Asset Management on Ethereum earlier in 2026.Kinexys has processed more than US$4tn in cumulative transactions since its inception, with average daily transaction volumes of US$7bn, according to JPMorgan. Those figures relate to the broader Kinexys platform. They do not represent the volume of JPM Coin transactions conducted on Ethereum, and the bank has not disclosed the value of transfers completed through the newly supported network. The expansion matters for corporate treasury and transaction banking because institutions increasingly need to manage liquidity across conventional bank accounts and emerging digital-asset infrastructure.Tokenised deposits could potentially support more closely coordinated movement of cash and collateral, particularly where both assets and settlement funds are represented digitally. For trade and working-capital finance, the longer-term opportunity lies in linking payment settlement with electronically recorded obligations, financed assets or transferable commercial instruments. However, the Ethereum launch does not itself establish a new receivables-financing facility, supplier-finance programme or trade-finance transaction. It also does not remove the need for banks to verify counterparties, comply with sanctions requirements or assess the enforceability of underlying financial obligations.JPMorgan’s announcement therefore represents an expansion of institutional settlement infrastructure rather than proof that conventional trade-finance instruments have migrated onto blockchain networks. Its commercial significance will depend on whether institutional clients use the additional network to support sustained payment activity and more efficient liquidity management. #blockchain settlement#corporate treasury#digital assets#Ethereum#institutional payments#JPM Coin#JPMorgan#Kinexys#liquidity management#tokenised deposits
