HSBC names Vinay Mendonca to lead its new embedded finance joint venture


HSBC has appointed Vinay Mendonca to lead its new embedded finance fintech. This fintech is a joint venture with B2B fintech Tradeshift in which HSBC holds 75 per cent while Tradeshift the remaining 25 per cent. Vinay Mendonca was chief growth officer for HSBC’s Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF) before taking over as CEO of the joint venture. In addition, Shehan Silva, HSBC’s head of digital solutions for GTRF, is named as COO and Barry O’Byrne, CEO of global commercial banking at HSBC is appointed as board chair.
