alternative finance asset-based lending Global 17-08-2026FTAI secures US$2bn aircraft warehouse line with route to US$3bnFTAI Aviation has closed a US$2bn warehouse financing facility for its second Strategic Capital investment vehicle, with a US$1bn accordion that could increase total borrowing capacity to US$3bn as the group expands its portfolio of mid-life commercial aircraft. The facility closed on 14 August and was publicly announced on Monday. It has been syndicated across 13 financial institutions and will finance acquisitions of on-lease Boeing 737NG and Airbus A320ceo aircraft by FTAI’s 2026 special-purpose vehicle, with purchases due to begin this month.ATLAS SP Partners and Deutsche Bank acted as co-structuring agents. The lender group spans US, European and international institutions including Citi, Goldman Sachs, MUFG, Standard Chartered, RBC and U.S. Bank. Pricing, maturity and the conditions governing use of the US$1bn accordion were not disclosed in the announcement. The financing gives FTAI’s new investment vehicle a large pool of acquisition capital before the aircraft have to generate their full investment returns. Unlike conventional corporate working-capital borrowing, the facility is tied directly to a strategy of acquiring leased physical assets with recurring rental income and residual value.FTAI said its Strategic Capital vehicles have now raised US$5.5bn of warehouse financing in less than two years. Its first vehicle raised US$2bn of equity commitments in October 2025 and has since committed approximately US$6bn across more than 300 aircraft, according to the company. The inaugural vehicle has moved into what FTAI describes as its harvest phase. The structure also links asset ownership with maintenance economics. FTAI said it will carry out all engine maintenance for aircraft acquired by the 2026 vehicle through its Maintenance, Repair and Exchange operation, giving the group an additional commercial relationship with the assets beyond investment management. For lenders, the transaction provides exposure to a large portfolio-building strategy centred on aircraft already subject to leases. For FTAI, the accordion creates room to scale acquisitions without arranging an entirely new facility if additional commitments become available. #aircraft finance#ATLAS SP Partners#aviation finance#Deutsche Bank#FTAI Aviation#Strategic Capital#syndicated lending#warehouse financing
