Conference on small businesses held in Zagreb


A quarter of foreign investments in Croatia refer to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which account for more than a half of GDP, two-thirds of employees in the economy sector, and 25-30 per cent of all exports, which keep growing.

Croatian Prime Minister, Ivica Racan, said that the government's programme of development of small businesses covering the period to 2006 envisaged the creation of 151,000 new jobs. This plan is based on achieved investment results in small and medium-sized business, including 6,600 granted loans, which enabled the opening of 16,000 new companies, trades and co- operatives, and the creation of more than 40,000 new jobs.
