CBI revenues rise 14% as payment verification volumes surge across Europe

Italian fintech infrastructure provider CBI has reported a 14% year-on-year increase in revenues for 2025, supported by rapid growth across payment verification, open finance and digital infrastructure services.

The company said its Verification of Payee service, CBI Name Check, has averaged 150 million checks per month since launching across the European Economic Area in October 2025. The system allows banks and payment providers to verify whether a beneficiary’s name matches an IBAN before a payment is executed.

CBI’s Check IBAN service also recorded strong growth, rising 36% compared with 2024 and exceeding 28 million cumulative checks.

The company said growth was also supported by increased activity across CBILL, its digital bill payment platform, and CBI Globe, which enables payment service providers to operate as third-party providers under PSD2.

Salvatore Maccarone, President of CBI, said the company plans to continue expanding internationally while strengthening its role in open finance, digital identity services and wider European payment infrastructure initiatives, including the Digital Euro.

CBI also confirmed plans to expand its Request to Pay service into private sector billers during 2026 and develop a new multilateral clearing system for domestic retail payments.

The results underline continuing investment across Europe’s payments and banking infrastructure market as regulators and financial institutions push for faster, more secure and more automated payment systems.
