Representatives from 41 countries gather to 'think small first'

Around 400 top government figures from 41 countries across will this week gather for a two day European Small Business Summit at the City Hall in Cardiff, aimed at sharing good ideas on how to boost what is a vital sector of every country's economy.

Organised by the Welsh National Assembly, the UK's Small Business Service (SBS) and the European Commission, the summit is taking place on 11th and 12th October. Both David Irwin, Chief Executive of the SBS, and the Government's Small Business Minister Nigel Griffiths, will be speaking at this, the first forum of its kind to be held in the UK.

The Summit agenda will focus on how to deliver support services across small and medium enterprise sectors and shaping policy and research.

According to the Association of the European Chambers of Commerce, small firms make up 93% of all firms in the EU, which account for a third of all jobs.
