Alpine Ridge closes US$9m factoring deal with US$3m growth option

Alpine Ridge Funding has closed a US$9m factoring facility for an emerging US consumer brand preparing to launch fragrance and home-goods collections through a major national retailer, using expected retail receivables to support a significant expansion in working-capital requirements.

The structure provides US$6m of availability at closing, with a further US$3m accordion designed to become accessible as the company’s retail programme grows.

The distinction is material. The full US$9m represents the facility’s potential size, while the additional US$3m is an expansion option rather than capital confirmed as available or drawn at closing.

According to Alpine Ridge, the arrangement was structured around the brand’s planned national rollout and the quality of its retail receivables, rather than relying principally on its historical financial performance.

The borrower has not been named, and the lender has not identified the retailer involved.

The financing addresses a common challenge for consumer brands moving from smaller distribution channels into large retail networks.

A national launch can require substantial expenditure on manufacturing, packaging, logistics and inventory before the corresponding customer payments are received. Retail supply contracts may provide a clearer picture of future demand, but they do not eliminate the timing gap between production costs and cash collection.

Alpine Ridge said the facility would help finance initial purchase orders and allow the borrower to expand into additional product categories.

Although the lender describes the arrangement as factoring, the announcement does not explain whether advances will be made only against eligible issued receivables or whether separate inventory or purchase-order financing is included.

That limitation matters because a purchase order does not itself constitute a trade receivable. Conventional factoring generally requires an underlying payment claim against a debtor, with funding and advance rates dependent on the receivable’s eligibility.

The lender has not disclosed the advance rate, pricing, maturity, recourse provisions or detailed conditions governing the accordion.

Alpine Ridge operates alongside Mountain Ridge Capital and is affiliated with CCaventus Asset Management.

The transaction illustrates how receivables-based lenders can support businesses entering a growth phase in which large retail orders create immediate funding requirements, while established trading history may not fully reflect future sales potential.
