Kate RichardsonStructured Trade Finance Specialist(and English-qualified lawyer), BPKate is a member of bp’s structured trade finance team in its supply, trading and shipping business. Her role involves creating and maintaining financial structures to help bp’s trading business optimise its working capital and inventory positions and to provide trade-linked finance solutions to the business’s suppliers and buyers. Before joining bp, Kate was European Regional Lead Counsel supporting HSBC’s trade and receivables finance businesses for five years. Kate spent the first 15 years of her career working in City law firms (Lovells and Dentons) specialising in trade finance, mostly based in London but with stints in Russia and Germany. During her legal career, Kate worked on many award-winning deals involving a wide range of countries, commodities and trade-related finance structures and was a member of various trade-finance-related working groups and committees of industry bodies such as ICC, LMA and BAFT.
