The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Friday (8 August) "substantial" risks remained for an economic recovery in the Netherlands after three years of sluggishness, but some relief may come in 2004.
Fortis, the Belgian/Dutch financial services company, has made a 4.1 billion ($3.6 billion) bid for the Netherlands based insurance company ASR, in which it already has a shareholding of just under 21%.
The European financial group Fortis is currently in contention with the Japanese investment bank Nomura.
