WTW acquires LA-based trade credit solutions firm, CFS International

WTW, a leading global advisory, broking, and solutions company, has announced the acquisition of CFS International into Willis, a WTW business. This targeted acquisition represents an investment in the growing trade credit business, while concurrently expanding geographic coverage by strengthening regional presence on the west coast.

Founded in 1990, CFS International began with a pointed focus on delivering trade credit insurance products to global firms. With the challenges of a complex and increasingly competitive marketplace, CFS originated with an aim to serve the growing need for trade credit insurance products as an essential component of a comprehensive financial, credit, and risk management strategy. The company’s trade credit solutions were designed to aid clients in competing on a global scale.

The arrangement includes WTW acquiring the assets and clients of CFS, while at the same time expanding access to strategic geographies including Los Angeles and related markets across California and throughout the west coast. The addition of CFS will augment WTW’s trade credit footprint in these strategic regions, while also diversifying the company’s client base.

Scott Burnett, Head of Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions for WTW’s Risk & Broking business commented, “The acquisition of CFS International is our second in as many months, with the first (GCC) expanding our trade credit footprint into key areas of the Midwest, while the addition of CFS benefits WTW by providing access to new California-based markets. Further, CFS closely aligns with our specialization strategy in targeted industries, expanding our resources and services to benefit clients across the country. This deal amplifies our position as a leading provider of trade credit products throughout the country.”

Ralph Clumeck, President of CFS International, commented, “After more than thirty incredible years in the trade credit insurance industry, I am proud to announce that our firm has been acquired by WTW, one of the world’s leading brokerage, consulting, and advisory firms. This world-class organization is a perfect strategic fit for our clients as the transition will provide them with broader access to the markets, a wider range of products and solutions, and the strength of one of the industry’s most respected names. As I step away from the business, I do so with confidence and gratitude, knowing that our clients are in excellent hands. Bridget Clumeck is excited to lead this next chapter, and she will continue to provide the exceptional service and support our clients have come to expect.”
