World Bank to lend Ukraine private sector $30 m

The World Bank will lend Ukraine $30 million for the first stage of its private sector development program in the country.

Some 600 western consultants will help reorganise 160 Ukrainian enterprises and train 350 Ukrainian managers between 2003 and 2007.

The World Bank might extend the programme until 2010 and allocate a further $30 million if the first stage is a success, according to Dmitry Krischenko, coordinator of World Bank private sector development projects in Ukraine.
