Venture capital investments total 117 million euros in Hungary


Some 40 venture capital funds invested a total of Ђ117 million in Hungary in 33 transactions last year, according to figures published by the Hungarian Venture Capital Association (HVCA). However, of the total value, only Ђ 10 million investments came from domestic investors.

The number of transactions rose by ten compared to 2002, while the invested value dropped by Ђ10 million. Almost two-thirds of all investments were placed in the telecom sector, 20.5 per cent in the services sector and 11.1 per cent in media, while all other sectors accounted for a mere 3% of the total value.

Although the IT segment represented 10 per cent based on the number of transactions, the sector only accounted for 1 per cent of total value. The services, telecom and manufacturing sectors were the most popular based on the number of transactions.
