Value of insurance on Polish exports soars

Speaking at a conference on Monday, the chairman of the Export Credit Insurance Company (KUKE), Jaroslaw Biernacki pointed to figures from research on Poland’s insurance market and said the significant growth was still only reflective of half of the market.   Data from the Export Credit Insurance Company (KUKE) suggests that the scope of polish exports is growing as well as their market value. In 2003 .17 per cent of Polish exports were insured against 3.45 per cent in 2004.  The total worth of exports insured by KUKE in 2004 was USD2.55 bn, 50-per cent higher than for the same period in 2003  The other half is carried out as part of sales between branches of multinational corporations, and law forbids this type of export to be insured.  Based on insured exports, there is significant growth in the automotive, construction, pharmaceutical, and heavy machinery sectors.
