Trade finance to be offered to SMEs

Kasikornbank Plc (KBANK), Thailand’s third-largest commercial bank, said that it has taken steps to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the eastern region to increase their exports after it found that foreign investments in the first half of this year had increased sharply.

Presently these SMEs mainly use the loan and deposit services of the bank. KBANK will soon offer this SME clientele four additional comprehensive areas of services, namely credit, cash management, trade finance and treasury risk management

Pakorn Partanapat, senior vice president of the business banking department, revealed that the bank plans to fortify business relationships with SME customers whose annual turnovers are in the range of 50-400 million baht. This is because these businesses have the potential to grow larger. As a result, this segment will eventually need to use the more complex financial services of the bank.
