The Swiss Factoring Industry


Daniel Trochsler, CEO & Chairman, Chairman of the Swiss Factoring, Association , KMU Finance Ltd St. Gallen, provides an overview of the factoring market in Switzerland, covering industry environment, market performance, supply and future trends, for the World Factoring Yearbook 2011.       INTRODUCTION The six members of the Swiss Factoring Association reached a turnover of CHF 5.1 billion in 2010 (€3.9 billion). While this was only a very slight increase on the previous year, it did mark some recovery for the industry after the 12 per cent decrease in volume experienced during the crisis.  INDUSTRY ENVIRONMENT The Swiss economy is one of the most stable and healthy in Europe. Nevertheless, gross national product (GNP) decreased by 1.9 per cent in 2009 due to the economic crisis, a figure unusually high for Switzerland.
