SMEs need stronger business proposals to win bank loans

Members of institutions supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) development set the record straight to the apparent ongoing perception among SMEs that "financial institutions in the country are not supporting their development by making the financial availability quite difficult."

Aziz Latip, ACEO Corporate from the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), disagreed with the belief of SMEs, saying; "the banks are ready with funds available. It is just a matter of approaching them with very good and convincing business proposals whereby both parties would reach a mutual win-win situation."

"There is quite a number of SMEs whose proposals are not convincing enough, for they need to convince the bank on its operation and most importantly, the survival of their business," added Aziz Latip.
