SMEs losing hope of economic recovery


According to a survey by the research company Konsensus, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are losing hope over the economic situation in the country.

Conducted among over 300 SMEs throughout the country, the survey put forth that SMEs became less optimistic about the economic situation in July when compared to the beginning of this year.

Accordingly, 21 per cent of the participants believe the economic situation is bad, while this ratio stood at 10.1 per cent in January. The ratio of those believing that the economic situation is good fell from 39.8 per cent to 27 per cent in July when compared to January.

The ratio of those expecting the economy to be worse in the upcoming six months rose to 29.9 per cent in July from 10.7 per cent in January.
