SMEs are invited to tap potential of 1.3 billion customers


Local entrepreneurs, and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are invited to tap the 1.3 billion customers potential of the 57 member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC).

A one-day seminar to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 11 March 2003 will show participants how to connect, transact and even reduce trade risks via the OICtrade, a web-based information, communication and technology (ICT) platform.

The event will be organised by trade facilitator OICnetworks Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between the Islamic Development Bank of Jeddah and state- owned ICT company Mimos Bhd.

OICnetworks president, Dr Ishkandar Baharin, said that it has committed RM57m to develop the online platform to help businessmen to tap into trade among the 57 OIC member countries.
