SME strategy and 30bn dinars allocated for economic development

Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic announced during a regular press conference that a strategy for the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is being implemented, adding that the government envisioned an increase in the number of SMEs to 280,000 by 2008, which would result in the creation of up to one million jobs.

He added that 49 large state-owned enterprises, with a total of 155,000 employees, were undergoing restructuring, while some 30 billion dinars had been set aside for economic development, through various credits and subsidies.

He added that Serbia had attracted 15 large multinational companies, interested in a market that provides stability and guarantees profits.
