Small Firms Turn Eye to Untapped South American Market

The Small and Medium Business Administration (SMBA) is dispatching a delegation to Brazil and Chile Saturday to promote Korean small and medium enterprises' (SME) trade and investment activities with South America.

Lee Suk-young, administrator of the SMBA said, ``We will dispatch a joint government-private SME business mission to Brazil and Chile between Aug. 24 and 31 in a bid to link the improved national image of Korea with domestic SMEs and venture start-ups' export marketing activities in South America.''

The SMBA, under the Commerce-Industry-Energy Ministry, is seeking to vitalise SMEs' trade with South America in line with the government's post-World Cup scheme to maximize the tournament's economic effect on a sustained basis.
