Small firms shop around for best borrowing deals


Small businesses in Australia have become very active in seeking creditors and pursuing better deals to fund the continued growth of their operations.

Curt Rendall, chairman of the federal government's small-businesses consultative committee, says banks are seen to be giving new clients preferential treatment, thereby discouraging their existing customers.

The seemingly endless restructuring carried out by lenders has also put off SMEs.
