Small business credit scoring service launched

Kreditinform has, with Experian Scorex, introduced a new credit-scoring system for small- and medium-sizes enterprises (SMEs) to be known as Kredit Score: SME.

In this context, SMEs have been defined as companies or businesses employing less than 20 staff members.

The actions or behaviour of the principals of an SME are far more likely to have an effect on the creditworthiness of that business than in a large organisation.

"With this in mind we seek to add in a statistical model (the SME index) on the business, combine that with a statistical score of the principals, and bring the two of them together," says Andrew Haynes, KreditInform sales director.

The new system refines the scorecard, bringing in the concept that the people running the business have a direct bearing on its ability to perform.
