Service sector growth picks up, strong gains in new business


July’s CIPS/Reuters survey of the UK private sector services economy signalled expansion of activity in the sector for a fourth successive month. Moreover, a further rise in the seasonally adjusted Business Activity Index to a level of 56.6 in July, from June’s 54.5, indicated that growth was significant, and the strongest since May 2002, as operating conditions in the sector became increasingly favourable.
