Senior executive appointment in Mainland China

Dicky Yip, chief executive China Business of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited has been appointed vice president of Bank of Communications.

The appointment was approved by the Board of Bank of Communications on 5 April 2005 and is being verified by the China Banking Regulatory Commission, as required by Mainland regulations.

Additionally, Dicky Yip will become a general manager of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited.

Following HSBC’s investment in a 19.99 per cent stake in the Bank of Communications in August last year, it was agreed that HSBC would second an executive to take up a senior role at the Bank of Communications. Mr Yip’s secondment will strengthen the strategic partnership between HSBC and the Bank of Communications.

HSBC’s Deputy chief executive China Business, Richard Yorke, will become acting chief executive until further notice.
