Scottish Enterprise unveiled details of its much-vaunted "fund of funds" yesterday as part of a Ј40 million package of measures to boost Scotland's ailing business birth rate.
The Ј20 million fund, to be called the Scottish Co-Investment Scheme, will provide matching funds for venture capital firms looking to invest sums of Ј500,000 and under into Scottish SMEs.
Plans to launch the private equity fund were revealed exclusively in The Scotsman back in January, a month before their existence was formally acknowledged by SE.
It is a key plank in the economic development agency's long-term business strategy and one of five flagship projects included in its spending commitments for this year.
