RBI allows insurance players to participate on TReDS platforms


Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced this Wednesday, that all entities that undertake factoring business can participate as financiers on TReDS platforms. Currently only banks, NBFC-Factors and other financial institutions can be financiers.

In order to support further development of the business and include low rated buyers to be part of the factoring transactions, RBI allowed insurance companies to hedge the default risk and aid financiers to fund more transactions.
