"Dangerous tendencies" have been detected in the way the Russian economy is developing which demonstrate "numerous problems in providing for economic growth and macroeconomic indicators", Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said on Friday at a meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Trade and Industry.
In light of this, the prime minister said: "The government is going to have to be very single-minded in switching to targeted policies in selected priority areas" of the country's development.”
He added: "A comprehensive analysis of the economic situation has to be the priority, along with pinpointing internal reserves to provide for, and accelerate, economic growth".
Discovering and applying new technology, improving the quality of production, and developing the market economy institutes which could provide for these goals are among some of the "internal factors," Fradkov believes.
