According to the Bank of Finland, global economic growth has picked up, with the US and Asia in particular exhibiting robust growth. The outlook for the global economy is bright, but the central bank warns that the longer term is still overshadowed by significant uncertainty.
Compared with the Bank of Finland's last economic outlook report from September, the central bank has become more confident. There is increasing evidence indicating that the growth in the US and Asia has a solid foundation, and Europe is in tow.
"The shift is not radical, but it is clear", commented Bank of Finland Board member Matti Louekoski when the year's fourth and final Euro & Talous journal was published.
According to Louekoski, the fact that the euro has strengthened considerably against the dollar is not a threat to Finland's competitiveness. "It will not create any large losses."
