Economy Minister Jacek Piechota has announced details of his plans for supporting small and medium-sized businesses, with some ZL1.5-2bn in resources to be made available by the government over the next five years.
According to Piechota the first four years of the programme will see the government itself issuing around 40,000 loans for SMEs. The ministry will also provide guarantees for another 42,000-50,000 ordinary bank investment loans.
The two sides of the programme, it is estimated, will be worth respectively from ZL0.95-1bn and ZLZL1.6-1.9bn, potentially adding up to as much as ZL3.2bn. The state loan guarantee fund will receive the necessary additional capital from a number of different sources - ranging from the EU Phare programme to the Polish Enterprise Development Agency to the EU and Polish government directly.
