More than 10,000 Sabah SMEs get loans under Micro Credit Scheme


A total of 10,314 applicants in Sabah have benefited from the Micro Credit Scheme in which RM24.6m had been approved as at 31 August this year, said Sabah's assistant finance minister, Datuk Hajiji Mohamad Noor on Tuesday (21 October).

He said Bank Pertanian Malaysia (BPM) received 1,333 applications and of the total, 1,062 applicants received RM11.6m.

Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) approved 785 applications worth RM8.4m while Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) approved 8,467 applications involving loans totalling RM4.5m, he said in a question-and-answer session at the Sabah state legislative assembly.

The Micro Credit Scheme was introduced by the government under the economic stimulus package in May this year and its disbursement agents were agencies including BPM, BSN and AIM appointed by the federal government.
