Minister promises aid to small businesses

The government plans help small- and medium-sized companies by cutting expenses and aiding exporters to boost their share of gross domestic product which ranks between 10 and 12 per cent now, Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref announced.

"Simplified taxation and lower taxes are giving results, but we should start creating a system of state support," Gref said at a conference. The government plans to cut the small companies' administrative expenses about three times over five years period and allow them to bid in production tenders for state orders to boost competition, Gref added.
