Miguel Vassalo of MC Factor SA presents the latest analysis of the Portuguese market


Market Performance and Supply  The domestic factoring market in 1999 and 2000, measured on the basis of accumulated debts assigned, expanded by 24% in 1999, and 16.1% in 2000. The volume of debts assigned by the market overall totalled PTE1,493m, in 1999 and PTE1,734m, in 2000, one of the highest performances in the European Union in terms of percentage of GDP.

 

 Comparing the figures of 2000 with 1997, the factoring volume has doubled over the period. Notwithstanding the amounts achieved in absolute terms, the rate of growth in 2000 has slowed.
