Member of Parliament launches small business project

Member of Parliament for North West St James Dr Horace Chang launched a small business development project in his constituency.

Dr Chang, who donated cheques valued at US$33,000 to more than 30 area residents, said the project was aimed at giving unemployed constituency residents a chance to pursue their own business interests.

"What we are doing here today is an attempt to offer individuals, especially those in the inner city communities of the constituency, something better," he said, adding that many of the residents had lost hope due to a lack of opportunities over the years.

That is about to change, despite the limited resources available to fill the needs of the constituents.

"We don't have enough funds right now to assist everybody in need, but the objective is to start somewhere and as soon as more resources become available more persons will get help," Chang noted.
