Measures to protect tequila SMEs to be enforced from 2004

In a measure to support the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tequila and the agave-tequila productive chain, the marketing of the two types of tequila produced - tequila and 100% tequila - will only be allowed if they are bottled in their place of origin from 2004, reported the Tequila Regulation Commission (CRT).

"All tequilas will have to be bottled in the area protected by the Denomination of Origin, which includes 180 municipalities in five Mexican states, and that will create great benefits for the reinforcement of the agave cactus-tequila productive chain," reported CRT.
