A long-term policy is being formulated for the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country, said CEO, SMEDA(Small- And Medium-Size Enterprise Development Authority), Shahab Khawaja, on Wednesday.
Talking to members of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), he said that a loan of US$ 12 million offered by the Asian Development Bank is being fully utilised for the SME sector and added that the government had decided to use this fund to develop a long-term SME policy as well as setting up Common Facility Centres for SMEs.
Khawaja said that SMEDA has started consultation with the chambers and industrial associations to pave the way for the first ever SME policy in the country.
