Leasing companies show very good results in 2003

Leasing companies enjoyed a boom last year as the value of assets leased in 2003 exceeded Ђ2.1 billion, a 30% increase compared to a year earlier.

According to industry insiders, the record high sales were due to falling interest rates and the improving financial situation of exporters. However, the very good situation at the end of last year may negatively affect sales in Q1 2004.

In 2003, the five largest companies on the market, EFL, Raiffeisen Leasing, BRE Leasing, BZ WBK Leasing and BEL Leasing, leased assets worth Ђ1.1 billion Compared to Ђ867 million in 2002.

Last year, many companies tided up their portfolios and decreased the share of industrial equipment leased in favour of cars.
