Fears have been voiced by a Mexican banker that inadequacies in the provision of information are threatening lenders. Victor Borras, director of corporate banking at Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomen has said that the dearth and poor quality of information cause particular problems when lending to medium sized companies.
“I think a process of improved information relating to finances and operations is needed.” said Borras, who is concerned that there needs to be a more efficient means of assessing an applicant company’s cash flow. “We need to know that the loan we make can be repaid with the revenues the company is going to receive from the investment.”
