Lack of financing causes 70% of SMEs to fold

Of all the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that start operations in the domestic market 70% close down two years after they open due to the lack of financing, according to Efraнn Aguayo Guillйn, a member of the network of Nacional Financiera consultants. Aguayo noted that as long as there is a lack of credit options for SMEs, this situation will continue.

The financial agreement signed by the Secretariat of the Economy, the Agricultural Trust Fund (FIRA), the development bank Nacional Financiera (Nafin), the National Business Solidarity Fund (Fonaes) and the Bank of Mexico is a very important step towards determining a scheme that allows SMEs to have the chance of obtaining financing..

Aguayo said that the objective is to produce an environment that allow more resources to be channelled to SMEs.
