KUKE improves results, as more firms are eager to export abroad

KUKE, the Polish export credit insurance agency, has collected contributions worth nearly ZL64m over the first three quarters of the year, a 14 per cent increase on the same period in 2003.

Two-thirds of this amount comes from activities conducted in the name of the Treasury. After three quarters, KUKE has insured a total of 3.51 per cent of Polish exports, the value of which amounted to US$2.2bn.

According to KUKE estimates, 60 per cent of Polish exports are constituted by transfers between branches of multinational corporations operating in Poland and their parent companies, which need not be insured.

Polish companies are mainly insuring their exports to Norway (15.2 per cent of the insurance granted by KUKE and a 1,086 per cent rise compared to the previous year), Germany (15.2 per cent) and the UK (9.1 per cent).

After nine months of the year, KUKE has posted a ZL12.36m profit, against ZL5.39m a year ago.
