International Trade Centre unveils 'FiT' for apparel SMEs

The International Trade Centre (ITC), has introduced FiT, a business advisory service, to serve as a catalyst for small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Sri Lanka to increase competitiveness in local and international parameters.

ITC's Textile and Clothing consultant Rupa Ganguly, addressing a presentation titled: "Benchmarking for the apparel industry" on Friday, said: "FiT is a bench marking tool for SMEs in the apparel sector which compares and positions the enterprise performance of one firm with respect to a group of other national and international firms on a completely confidential basis."

He said that the tool provides an analytical basis for identifying strengths and weaknesses in the global performance of an enterprise. "The FiT helps participating enterprises prioritise areas of action to improve their competitiveness," Ms. Ganguly added.
