Interest rate cut by 0.4%


Bank of Israel governor David Klein announced a 0.4 percent cut in the interest rates on 30 December, as was widely expected. This was the 10th time in 2003 that the governor has lowered rates, and the decision brings the central bank`s lending rate down from 8.9 percent in January 2003 to 4.8 percent in January 2004.
