President Habib Bank Ltd (HBL) Zakir Mahmood has said that the bank lent Rs50 bn so far to SME sector and it has witnessed an increase of Rs13 bn in the year 2004.
"We know the actual worth of the small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector, that is why we have been working hard to further improve this sector for the last four years by establishing a separate and dedicated branch for this sector," he added.
He informed that Habib Bank had aggregate 18 branches across the country, mainly in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and five branches in Karachi which were setup just to facilitate the businessmen of the SMEs sector.
