Harness branding culture to go global, SMEs urged

Small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been urged to harness a branding culture in order to successfully place locally-made products and services in the world market.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry parliamentary secretary Wong Kam Hoong said the government has acknowledged that SMEs would be the engine for economic growth in the future and thus, the 2004 Budget had, in one way, addressed the issue.

In the 2004 Budget, the government would be pumping in another RM100m into a fund for the development and promotion of Malaysian brands to add to the RM100m already allocated last year.
